Molly Knoll

SENIOR ADVISOR

Molly Knoll is a clean energy and regulatory policy expert with more than a decade of experience working at the intersection of law, public service, and energy markets. She brings deep knowledge of distributed energy policy, community solar, and consumer protection. 

Before joining Align Energy Advisors, Molly served as Vice President of Policy at the Coalition for Community Solar Access, where she led a team advancing community solar legislation and regulatory strategy in over 20 states. She helped shape industry-wide approaches to equitable solar access and coordinated member engagement across state and federal priorities. 

Previously, Molly was a Senior Advisor at the Maryland Public Service Commission, where she led work on grid modernization, multi-year rate plans, performance metrics, and public conferences on emerging energy issues. She also supported legislative strategy and advised on a range of retail energy and distribution system policies. 

Earlier, she served as Assistant People’s Counsel in Maryland, representing ratepayers in regulatory proceedings related to energy efficiency, rate design, and supplier accountability. Molly began her legal career as a judicial clerk for the Circuit Court for Caroline County. 

She holds a degree in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Maryland College Park and earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law.
